Compassionate, personalized care to support you and your baby throughout pregnancy. We ensure a safe, healthy, and confident journey to motherhood.
Carla has spent her entire adult life caring for women, children, and families. What began at 19—working in social service programs and supporting vulnerable communities—grew into a lifelong calling to walk alongside women during one of the most transformative experiences of their lives: childbirth.
As a licensed midwife trained through the National College of Midwifery and a master’s-level social worker from California State University, Los Angeles, Carla brings together clinical skill, deep compassion, and a strong understanding of the emotional and practical needs of families. Her background in case management and community support allows her to approach each pregnancy with a wide, holistic lens—seeing not just the birth, but the family, the story, and the village surrounding it. Carla also completed her Full Circle Doula Training® with Shafia Monroe Consulting, a program rooted in the traditions of the African American Midwife. This lineage emphasizes mothering skills, postpartum rituals, nurturing leadership within families, and restoring the sacred, cultural wisdom of birth. These values shape Carla’s practice today. She believes birth is not simply a medical event—it is a rite of passage deserving of dignity, grounding, and personalized care.
Her commitment to families extends far beyond the birth room. She has volunteered with organizations like Alternate Avenues supporting pregnant women in need, and she has served as a community co-lead with the San Gabriel Valley African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) initiative. Through this work, Carla has helped bring awareness to disparities in Black maternal health while advocating for equitable, culturally grounded care. In her practice, Carla is known for creating a calm, nurturing space where women feel seen, heard, and supported. Her care is relationship-centered: she listens deeply, honors each mother’s wishes, and partners with families to build confidence throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Whether offering evidence-based guidance, emotional reassurance, or simply holding space, Carla approaches her work with warmth, gentleness, and genuine love for the families she serves
