Working with Carla was a blessing! I knew I wanted a home water birth and I'm so happy I had her during my pregnancy and labor because I didn't know how real it would get when I went into labor. Carla supported me throughout my pregnancy highlighting how important it was as a black women to birth a healthy baby without the intervention of westernized medication because I was strong enough to do it not because I couldn't do it or it wasn't possible! She was very informative whenever I needed questions answered and quick to reply! The knowledge she holds on childbirth prenatal and postnatal truly is helpful. During my labor I wanted to give up soooooo bad but Carla was soooooooo supportive and encouraging! Her delicate touch, soft tone and calming reassurance that I was strong was the key to my successful home birth! If you are considering a doula she is definitely the go to! I am so grateful to have her around, thank you so much Carla!

They are extremely helpful and informative about what programs and opportunities are available for you and your child. They also make you feel very welcomed by checking on you regularly (if you'd like) and making sure that everything you need can be obtainable.

Where do I even start. Where do I even start. Carla is an amazing soul. With a previous pregnancy that brought a lot of trauma and paranoia from an unplanned c section, I was beyond a point of anxiety when I found out I was pregnant a second time around. I was 4 months when Carla was introduced to me and I promise it was one of the best decisions of my life. Through our first visit she was able to help me ease my anxiety and informed me everything would be ok. After the visit I just knew “ok she's the one, she's my doula” I refused to go back to the hospital for care because every appointment brought fear. Carla brought courage, trust, care, comfort and ease that I am a woman and was born to birth my baby. Carla was so amazing I even decided to do home birth. Although I didn't deliver my baby at home, I am forever grateful for the laboring at home. To know that I was strong enough to labor at home was an experience I never knew I had. I feel extremely blessed to have worked with Birthing & Babies. Carla is a birthing encyclopedia. She was exceptionally resourceful and most of all she was a safe space to talk with about my fears of childbirth. As a woman of color, we talked about the disparities and biases women of color have experienced while going through child birth. Carla gave me the ability to advocate for my personal needs and wants unapologetically. Insuring me through preparation I could have a successful pregnancy and birth. Not only did she assist me but my family as well equipping my partner with tools to assist me. Carla is exceptionally flexible and willing to go above and beyond. I would absolutely recommend her to other mothers as she does phenomenal work. Her level of professionalism and advocacy is remarkable. A birthing experience is a sacred time in a family's life her business is the perfect added touch to our journey into parenthood. Early on we discussed my birthing plan that she helped me facilitate covering all bases. During a very long labor my birthing plan changed opting to go to the hospital. Every decision I made she supported me directly, giving advice and helping each step of the way. Having her support during such a vulnerable time was imperative.
